Your Story
Understanding your story.
Supporting meaningful change.
Reaching out for therapy isn't always easy.
You may have spent weeks, months or even years wondering whether you should ask for help. Perhaps you've told yourself that you ‘should be coping’, wondered why everyone else seems to be coping better than you, or convinced yourself that things will eventually get better on their own.
For some people, that happens. For others, despite their best efforts, they continue to feel overwhelmed by constant worry, emotionally exhausted, or affected by experiences that still shape their lives today.
Whatever has brought you here, I'm glad you've found your way to Dahlia Psychology.
Therapy isn't about being told what's wrong with you or being given quick solutions. It's about taking the time to understand your experiences, making sense of what you're going through, and discovering a way forward that feels right for you.
Every person's story is unique. That's why I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. My role is to understand you as a whole person — your experiences, relationships, values, strengths and the challenges you have faced — not simply the difficulties that brought you to therapy.
Whether you're experiencing anxiety, the effects of trauma, ADHD, autism (ASD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), low mood, grief, relationship difficulties, or simply feel unlike yourself, therapy can offer a space to pause, reflect and begin creating meaningful, lasting change.
You don't need to have all the answers before reaching out.
Sometimes, the first step is simply having a conversation.
What You Can Expect From Working Together
Beginning therapy can feel uncertain, particularly if you've never spoken to a psychologist before. My aim is to create a space where you feel comfortable being yourself, without fear of judgement or pressure to have everything figured out.
Together, we'll take time to understand what has brought you to therapy, explore the experiences that may have shaped your difficulties, and identify practical ways to help you move forward.
Some sessions may focus on developing practical strategies to help you manage day-to-day challenges. Others may involve understanding long-standing patterns, relationships or experiences that continue to influence your life today.
Therapy isn't about changing who you are.
It's about helping you better understand yourself, develop emotional resilience, and feel more confident moving forward.
Taking the First Step
If you've recognised yourself in any of the experiences described on this website, I hope you've also gained a sense of the kind of therapeutic relationship I aim to offer.
You don't have to decide today whether therapy is right for you. Sometimes it helps simply to have an initial conversation, ask questions, and explore whether we're the right fit.
Whenever you feel ready, I'd be pleased to hear from you. Together, we can begin making sense of your experiences and work towards the changes that matter most to you.
