My Approach
My Practice & How I Work
Therapy That Puts You at the Centre
Every person's story is unique.
Although people may experience similar difficulties, no two people arrive in therapy with the same life experiences, relationships, strengths or challenges. For that reason, I believe therapy should never be a one-size-fits-all process.
Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or diagnoses, I take time to understand you as a whole person — your experiences, relationships, values, strengths and the challenges you have faced. Together, we will develop an understanding of what has brought you to therapy and work towards meaningful and lasting change.
A Collaborative Approach
Therapy is a collaborative process. My role is not to tell you what to do or make decisions on your behalf, but to work alongside you in making sense of your experiences, exploring new perspectives and helping you develop the tools and confidence to move forward.
We will work at a pace that feels comfortable for you, creating a safe and supportive space where you can openly explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences without fear of judgement.
My Therapeutic Approach
As an HCPC Registered Chartered Counselling Psychologist, I draw upon a range of evidence-based psychological approaches and tailor therapy to each individual, rather than relying on one therapeutic model for everyone.
Depending on your goals and circumstances, therapy may integrate approaches such as:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Trauma-informed therapy
- Compassion-focused approaches
- Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Mindfulness-based approaches
- Psychoeducation
- Relational and psychodynamic thinking
These approaches are thoughtfully integrated to provide therapy that is flexible, collaborative and responsive to your unique experiences.
What Therapy May Involve
No two therapy journeys are the same.
For some people, therapy focuses on understanding anxious thoughts, intrusive worries or unhelpful patterns of thinking. For others, it may involve processing difficult life experiences, improving relationships, building confidence, managing emotions or developing healthier ways of coping.
At times, therapy may feel practical and focused on learning new strategies. At other times, it may involve slowing down to explore emotions, understand long-standing patterns or make sense of experiences that continue to affect you today.
Progress is rarely a straight line. Some sessions may leave you feeling lighter and more hopeful, while others may feel more emotional or challenging. Both are a natural part of the therapeutic process, and we will regularly review your progress together to ensure therapy continues to meet your needs.
A Safe and Respectful Space
I recognise that beginning therapy can feel daunting. My aim is to provide a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental environment where you feel respected, heard and understood.
Whether you are seeking support for a recent difficulty or exploring experiences that have affected you for many years, therapy offers an opportunity to better understand yourself, develop healthier ways of coping and move towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.
